Longford Youthreach Programme first opened
its doors to early school leavers in February
1995. The programme at that time was primarily
based in St Josephs Convent in Lanesboro
with an Information Technology module in Longford
town.
In July 2000, the thirty-place Youthreach
Programme moved, in its entirety, to its present
location at Upper Main Street, Ballymahon,
which was formerly the Mercy Convent, Secondary
School Campus.
Aims of the Centre
- Provide opportunities for the process
of decision-making and empower young people
to influence the direction of their own
lives
- Promote a sense of independence and
creativity among programme participants.
- Provide opportunities for the education
and development of vulnerable young people
in a safe environment, in a relationship-based
programme.
Student Population
The centre is approved to cater for 30 participants.
Curriculum
Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied,
FETAC, Information Technology, Hairdressing,
Copping-On Programme.
Learning Support
Literacy and Numeracy.
Psychological Services
Guidance and counselling, individual counselling,
appropriate referral.
Extra Curricular
Activities
Sport: Football, Hurling, Soccer, Canoeing,
Hill-Walking, Pool, Basketball, Darts, Outdoor
Pursuits, Bowling.

CD Recording Sessions.
